24 Apr Year 2 History Trip to St Paul’s Cathedral
A few weeks ago the children in Year 2 had a fantastic trip to St. Paul’s Cathedral. We climbed 257 steps to the famous Whispering Gallery which is 30 metres high! It gave us a great view of the cathedral floor and all of the details in the ceiling of the dome. Then we climbed another 119 to the Stone Gallery which is on the outside of the cathedral and this gave us views of the whole of London! We saw Tower Bridge to the east, the River Thames, Tate Modern Art Gallery and Crystal Palace to the south, Telecom Tower and The Monument to the west and we even saw Alexandra Palace to the north! After lunch we had a brilliant workshop where we learned more about The Great Fire of London, saw statues that had survived the fire, sat in the choir area and took part in a drama where we pretended to put out the fire. We all had a great day!
