Communication
Now more than ever, it is vital that the school office has current and up-to-date contact details (phone numbers and email addresses). Please contact them if your details have changed.
Normally, we pride ourselves on our open door policy, but unfortunately current circumstances make this very difficult. Instead, if you need to speak to your child’s class teacher, you can either contact the office and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Alternatively, you could email us using the following email addresses:
School starts at 8:55am. Please be on time so that your children can be in their classrooms before other children enter the building.
At the moment, Year 2 parents can bring their children into school. Please enter through Gate 1 on Park Road and line up outside their classroom doors.
If you come into the playground you MUST wear a mask or face covering.
School finishes at 3:25pm. Please be on time to collect your child and leave the playground straight away. Parents collecting older children should go straight to their next pick up area.
General Class Housekeeping
Children need to bring a full water bottle to school every day. It can be refilled from the classroom water coolers.
Your child does not need to bring fruit to school. The free fruit scheme has restarted.
Your child does not need to bring a bag to school. They should carry their water bottle in their hand. The only children who need to bring a bag are those who have a packed lunch or a snack for After School Club.
PE Day is Tuesday. Children should come to school wearing their PE kit and wearing trainers or plimsolls.
On Tuesdays the children also have an Art Lesson with Helen R.
Curriculum
The PSHE Team (Personal, Social and Health Education) are leading our Recovery Curriculum.
The Recovery Curriculum focusses on Wellbeing and helping your children get used to being back at school.
You can find information about our learning in Curriculum Map on this page. (Kat, can you insert a link?)
Reading
We are adapting Home School Reading to fit in with Covid rules and will give you further information soon.
As we work with your children we will assess where they are in their learning so that we can adapt the Year 2 curriculum to meet their needs.
The phonic screening, that was due to take place in June, will happen during this term (before Christmas).
Parents Evening
The first parents’ evening is scheduled for November. Here you will be able to meet with your child’s class teacher to discuss how your little one is settling into the year. The school is considering how this meeting can be safely managed, and will keep you informed of the exact dates and details nearer the time. We look forward to meeting with you individually!
Story time is something the school does a lot with your children, so we really encourage you to keep reading books at home. Children can also listen to stories online, which can help support them in their daily reading:
Last year for World Book Day, Rob Biddulph, an author and illustrator, visited Bounds Green and did an amazing workshop for our key stage one children. He is doing really amazing online art activities for children. Click the link below:
