Our New Vision Statement
During the second half of the Summer Term we consulted with our whole School community about our draft new Vision Statement for Bounds Green.
Feedback from Governors
Governors commented positively but with the suggestion that separation of the two elements of ‘nurturing well-being’ and ‘aspiration re. learning’ might be better segregated. This was very well considered feedback.
Feedback from Parents
A simple Microsoft Forms survey (anonymous) went out to all parents, with a free text box for any comments.

Being happy is all very nice, but I feel that (especially after the setbacks to education caused by Covid), there should be at least some attempt to value and strive for academic achievement. How about a reference to aiming high, ambitious goals, challenging oneself, fulfilling potential etc.? |

The values that are taught in Bounds Green School will definitively be useful. However, I think our school could also have more academic ambition for all our children (even if grades don’t determine a successful happy life). |

It’s a great statement that summarises why BG school is so special. |
Whilst the responses are overwhelmingly positive and the draft vision resonated with parents/carers, the feedback from parent 12 and parent 35 were very pertinent and relevant, and actually built upon feedback from Governors.
Feedback from Pupils
Senior Leadership Team members, Helen & Jess, took responsibility for gathering pupil feedback. They held a meeting with the School Council on Friday 25th June. The School Councillors were asked what came into their minds when they think of our school. They contributed many significant ideas (see photo). They talked a great deal about learning and the attitudes (such as creative thinking) and structures (such as a supportive community) that helped them achieve success.

They made links between their contributions to the meeting and the language of the vision statement that they agreed reflected their ideas well.
When asked if they felt anything was missing from the statement they said learning, fairness, being supportive, listening and resources they use to help them learn. The key aspect that came back from the children themselves was that ‘Learning’ needed to be more emphasised and clear in the final vision.
So the consultation feedback from each strand of stakeholders was consistent and aligned.
Response to Consultation & Final Vision Statement
The children’s perspectives, parental feedback & Governor feedback were taken back to SLT towards the end of the Summer term, with the purpose of revising a finalised ‘Vision Statement’. After discussion the SLT agreed the final statement. We believe the process and consultation was extremely purposeful and positive in leading to the Final Vision Statement you can find below:
