01 Mar Reception Remote Learning – w.c 01.03.21
Hello to all our Reception families.
This will be our final week of activities to try at home.
We are very excited about seeing all our Reception children back at school on the 8th March – just one more week to wait!
We hope the children are looking forward to returning to school. We are sure you are preparing them by telling them that they will be able to play with their friends, see their teachers and climb on the hill and the climbing frame outside. We also have new bikes to try out! The indoor space will look the same, so they will be able to ‘free-flow’ around the whole Reception space like they did before.
Children will also be feeling anxious about coming back to school after spending such a long time at home. Please let them know that they can talk to us about how they are feeling, and we will do our very best to support and comfort them.
We cannot thank you enough for the way you have supported us and the children through this period of time. We know there have been lots of positive experiences but also some really challenging and difficult times. Let’s hope this is the beginning of some happier times for all of us.
See you all soon,
The Reception team

Here is this weeks’ remote learning activity pack for Reception:
Here are a couple of videos as part of our mid-week update. As it is World Book Week we have been looking at different activities based around stories, this first activity video is based around the ‘story box’, have a watch and give it a go at home:
Next we have a brilliant video showing you how to make your own slime at home, and how you can use it to create some extra slimy fun to your story settings!
We also have a video for you all to watch from our lovely Music teacher with some great songs to try out at home!
Have a go at making phonics cups and using them to form words! This activity is a great way of supporting your child to blend sounds/letters together to read words.
As World Book Day officially falls this week Reception will be doing lots of activities based around stories and reading. You will receive a letter via email with regards to our plans for World Book Day, so keep an eye out for this! Here are a few stories, and story-related activities you can try at home:
Here is a great story called ‘George and the Dragon’ by Chris Wormell, watch the video then have a go at creating your own dragon eggs using the instructions in the video underneath!
Here are a few of my favourite stories, what are your favourite stories and why?
Here are some great stories told by our lovely Reception team, please always remember to check on our Storytelling blog if you’d like to watch more story videos:
