At Bounds Green we believe that Art plays an important role in increasing our children’s social and emotional well-being as well as allowing their creativity to shine. We are lucky to have the skills of our specialist Art teacher Danni Lynch. Art lessons normally last for 50 minutes per week.
Activities and themes for Art work are closely linked to the whole school curriculum overview where we have tried to establish cross curricular links with topic work covered in class as well as making sure NC skills in Art are closely embedded in work carried out in lessons in each of the key stages.
Art is used to unite the school and provides a visually stimulating environment for our children to learn. Here at Bounds Green we are lucky to have a room which is dedicated to this area of the curriculum. This is used enthusiastically by children from years 2-6, where they can have access to a range of materials to support their work in producing high quality creative work. In the Early Years, children carry out a range of art activities with their class teachers, which adorns the corridors and classrooms in the Early Years building.
Last year, we entered numerous competitions and have had the chance to work with some specialists artists on various projects. This had a positive impact on our children`s learning and local area, and has cumulated with 4 murals inspired by the children from Year 4 now proudly displayed at Bowes Park Station.
Bounds Green is very fortunate to have such talented children as seen from the various art displays around the school.
We hope you enjoy them.
